Color Sketch August 26th, 2008
One of my most basic goals for making art a part of my life is to sketch — every day.
Whether it’s a five minute gesture drawing, throwing up a color palette that I’ve been thinking about, or throwing down the paper and forcing the pencil to do something – I will be consciously sketching for the unadulterated end of creating a sketch.
Lately I’ve been creating daily color sketches in Photoshop. These take less than 5 minutes. (Any more than that and it becomes overthought.) The point of creating and posting these sketches daily is twofold:
- Exercise my crappy color (pencil, pen, composition) competence.
- Get over myself.
For me, inhibition is the number one reason I am not a regular practicing artist in my own life or in the greater community. Sheesh! Time to get over it, already.
